Microsoft's Stock Stagnant But High Hopes Are Prevalent
Written by Baruti M. Kamau on 07/20/2010 @ 10:10 P.M.

Cincinnati, Ohio (BarutiwaDaily.com) - Microsoft Corporation (Nasdaq: MSFT) common stock is pretty stagnant these days. It hasn't traded as high as it did during the dotcom boom. Within the last 52-weeks Microsoft has traded between $23 and $32 per share. Investors still have high hopes for Microsoft since many U.S. companies have started buying computers again. However, investors are concerned about Microsoft's future growth. Bill Gates the company's founder and chairman stepped down from day-to-day operations two years ago to focus his attention on philanthropic interests. Hence, many investors are worried that Microsoft's ability to maintain a competitive stock value is link to their willingness to stay at the helm of technological innovations in the area of software and computers. This explains their stagnant stock price even though investors are hopeful. Therefore, the question remains: "Where is Microsoft going after Bill Gates?"
