How fast can you type? If you can type more than 35 words per minute, has it help you significantly in your forum participation?

Well, you can post faster. That's kind of helpful.

I'm proud of it. I can type maybe 65 words per minute.

I've just done my own 'test' to see how many words per minute I can type: 78.

Edit: Yay, 91.

I don't even know how fast I can type but whatever the speed is, I'm still making mistakes.

That's right. I learned to type back in 9th grade through a typing class I was required to take and Mavis Beakon Teaches Typing.

I use the internet every day and I type on the internet, forums, and my blog on a daily basis so I'm using my fingers. One thing I'm glad about is that I don't have to look down to find the keys. (I'm kind of mixed between medium/touched typist)

Back in 1983 when I was in the 9th grade my mother forced me to take Typing I, II & III. I hated it. I thought it was a girl thing. There were 37 girls in the class and only 3 boys including myself. When arrived at college some 4 years later I started to appreciate what my mother made me do. It has benefitted me ever since. Smile

Based on the forum question, yes. Typing can save you a lot of unneeded checking and looking.

I can type at roughly 93-100 WPM.
That is of course on a test, but if I know what I'm going to say I think I could reach the 100+ limit. Being grammatically correct never hurt either.
